NOLLYWOOD STAR ACTRESS,GENEVIEVE NNAJI LAUNCHES FASHION LABEL ..ST.GENEVIEVE AMIDST FANFARE IN LAGOS,NIGERIA

By Niyi Tabiti
Chief Reporter

Ever stylish and confident Nollywood Star actress,Genevieve Nnaji has finally unveiled her much talked about clothing line known as St.Genevieve.
The event took place on Sunday 4 May 2008 at Coral Hall, opposite Mega Plaza,Victoria Island,Lagos.
Genevieve is not alone in the business, she has got what many believe is a strong partnership in Lamide Ajayi of Iconola.www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com gathered that Genevieve takes credit for designing while Lamide takes the credit for sewing.
Ofcourse, there was Red carpet and fashion show. The models did their part of the show wonderfully well. There were so many Lagos chics here and there and they enjoyed themselves.
However, if you are thinking that the event would parade all 'heavy weights ' from Nollywood because of Genevieve you are far from the point. There absentism has been tagged a signal that Genevieve may want to concentrate more on the thriving fashion business in Nigeria than appearing in movies (?) . Any ways, those who came made her day.
A single mother of one, Gennny as she is popularly called, hails from Mbaise,Imo State. She is rated as one of the most flamboyant, finest, sexist and controversial to date. She has acted in several movies.
Few years back, she won the mouth watering endorsement deal as Face of Lux with Unilever Plc in Nigeria. At that time, she had a Limousine at her beck and she also called millions of Naira.Genevieve is darling of paparazzi because of her alluring look. From movie,to music and now fashion,Genevieve has indeed shown that her name is indeed a brand.

Why is Genny dressed like that to her own fashion show? Anyways the designs are nice but ive seen better and there are so many designers coming out now and they all look the same to me. Congratulations to her though!

  8. The outfit might not be the best to wear, maybe she wanted to keep it simple and she still looks nice. Nevertheless, Genevieve is still a natural beauty.

  11. Thank goodness Genevieve can act because this is a HOT MESS!!! Genevieve, the cloths and the models are all just wrong and OMG what is up with the legs?! Both her and the models forgot to wash, shave and lotion their legs or cover them up. I even saw a bra strap on one of the models! Stick to movies honey both music and fashion are not for you. Thanks for the photos Niyi.

  12. Gen looks really bad in this pic, from her hair, face (she looks 40) the dress, her legs and don't even get me started on the shoes. I hope everything is going well with her. Nothing special about the clothing line, but I wish her well.

  17. Benin/lagos chick, you are dead-on. She dressed like a housemaid. Even her arms are ashey. Why do Nigerian women looked so harsh to the eyes. Just wondering, nothing soft about them. Just plain ugliness.

  19. Nigerians, when would you all ever change? Here is someone doing something positive, like designing clothes and creating work for others and all you all can do is comment on her dress and legs. There is seriously something wrong here when you cannot congratulate your sister, on this great achievement. Now let me ask all you player haters, what have you achieved in your mediocre lives?

  25. whenever i look at her i wonder why people rate her so highly. i have seen genny in a lot of movies to know she doesnt have sense of style. and this picture further proved it. i am totally dissappointed about her dressing to her own fashion show. she look like she was forced to do this or she is having some emotional problems. but reaaly she doesnt look god though i am happy for her. nigeria is not an easy place to live. the nigeria women all look hard, materialistic and burnt from the hot sun.

  26. Genevieve Nnaji is the creame de la creame and in fact, she is on top of the heap!!! She has never-before-seen-in-Africa innovative ideas and I can only say to all her negative critics: Get a life! Nnaji can roll with the big dogs of Hollywood and she should come and audition in the United States. Finally, Genevieve Nnaji possesses a master-mind in superior business sense. Keep up the GREAT work Genny!

  28. Please tell me where to buy St. Genevieve clothing!!!

  29. Jealousy is a very bad thing. When someone does a good thing, please recognize it.If every African was ingenious like this girl, we'd be far today. Instead of critizing come up with something loosers!!!!

  30. genny keep it up, i think you are doing something very positive and don't let anyone of those fools discourage you.we african we sit and wait for someone to do somethings and then we say trash about them.
    They are all lossers.

  31. na wa for all these many many comments...truth is she made an effort, but she shouldn't have launched if she wasnt ready. those styles were not 'WOW' enough, guess this is a wake up call for you (Genevieve) to go back to the drawing board and do something better. keep up the good work, but i think you're better at acting though!

  32. Why is it that people are too quick to be a commentator? If these clothes were designed by a know fashion designer, let’s say Armani, versace or Gucci, we wouldn't have a problem with it simply because the brand is recognise

She is doing something with her life and is a great thing to take a step towards something you desire to do in life. How would we feel if every step we take is been criticised.... remember that what you don't like other people will buy it.

  33. I used to think Nigerians were united but hell no.The way they try and put others down is really down and thats why Africa shall always lag behind. Anyway, no one can ever say no when God says yes.Genny u are a blessing and may God continue to bless u, u are a pride to Africa even tho yo own people wish u no good.
