House of Makeda was created by Teni Olafisoye, a musician and fashion designer. Her love of both music and fashion inspired her to create a house that is edgy, fashion-forward and unique, socially conscious and eclectic. She studied History at the University College London and African Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies and has soaked up a myriad of multicultural influences while there. She lives now in Lagos, Nigeria, working from the Makeda studio and fuses the African with Western and Eastern, the vintage with the contemporary to create a style that is powerful, classic and truly sophisticated.
THE BRONZE COLLECTION
Makeda was the famed African Queen of Sheba who captured the heart of King Solomon journeying to his kingdom to gain knowledge and wisdom, which were to her, more precious than gold or any jewel. In her time, she was the embodiment of regal elegance and now, the timeless qualities she possessed have been reborn for the modern woman.
THE ASO- EBI COLLECTION
House of Makeda is a unique, aspirational African lifestyle brand that creates truly one-of-a-kind style. With our ready to wear Makeda line, exquisitely made to measure Makeda Couture and diffusion demi-couture L’Afro Bohème line for the exotic haute bohemian; there is something for every woman. Truly iconic. Truly African. Yours truly, House of Makeda.
