Owelle Rochas Okorocha has won the governorship election held today in Imo State, Nigeria. Okorocha contested under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Okorocha polled 336,859 votes, while the incumbent governor of Imo state and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate,Mr. Ikedi Ohakim scored 290,496 votes to make the second place. Senator Ifeayin Ararume who contested under the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Scored 107,068 votes.
The election in Oguta area of the state was however canceled. The main election was held in April but it was adjudged inconclusive by the electoral officers. The re-run was fixed for Friday 6 May 2011.
