Skye Bank Plc Empowers 125 Nigerian Journalists

No fewer than 125 correspondents and reporters across the South West zone would be trained on digital journalism by ‎the Skye Bank Plc. The bank's Head of Corporate Communications, ‎Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, disclosed this at the flag-off of the training exercise in Abeokuta with the theme: "Digital journalism in 21st Century." Bolarinwa ‎said the need to improve the capacity of journalists and fill the gap created by the increasing patronage of online journalism in the country informed the training. He stated that lots of applications and tools exist in the digital space to enhance and enrich the work of Nigerian journalists‎, urging them to key into it. According to him, the South West would be used as a pilot ‎for the training before the bank replicates it in other parts of the country. Here is the interview Gistmaster : What are the things you intend doing now after resigning from your position as city people magazine's fashion editor? Right now my dream is to have my event outfit and also have a fashion label. I have always loved fashion designing; I have attended a fashion school couple of years back, I am just waiting for the right timing. I didn’t just want to start and end up being like just another designer coming up so for now, I am starting with my event/PR outfit, reason because that is much easier for me to start with and with my years with City People, i have been exposed. Nigeria billionaire, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim has bought Newswatch magazine company. The oil magnate who is well connected within and outside the ruling Peoples Democratic Party recently held a meeting with members of staff of the company and he told them that he wont tamper with their editorial contents, rather his dream is to ensure that money is pumped into the company so that the publication can run smoothly.Gistmaster gathered that under the new arrangement, Mr. Ibrahim will among other things pay off the 7 months salaries being owed staff.  Newswatch was founded in the 80s by late Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu and others.
