Nigerian singer Abolore Akande a.k.a. 9ice performed at London Hyde Park last friday alongside Will Smith, Amy Winehouse, U2 and many others; in honour of South African leader Nelson Mandela who clocked 90 recently.
It is 9ice's first international exposure, being his first performance abroad ever, and he is starting on a very good note.According to info gathered by www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com, 9ice's performance was backed by the Soweto Gospel choir. The concert which was primarily designed for an audience of about 40000, was transmitted live to millions across the world through different cable networks. It was shown live on Nigeria's AIT.He was the only artiste taken from Nigeria. 9ice was accompanied by his manager Ola Dehinde. He is expected back to Nigeria eon Monday June 30.
At 90, Mandela is the real 'gongo aso' world leader. Here is a salute to the mandiba.
www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com would have brought you loads and loads of photos of what London big boys and girls wore to the party but...Lets just pray that soon and very soon,I would have the opportunity to cover events like this...still working concerning the Nottinghill Carnival, which I gathered would hold in August.

Dear Ada,
I don’t really blame you but you strike me as one of those neo-colonialists, a Western apologist who sees nothing good in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general. Lets us even imagine the news about 9nice's performance was a mere propaganda, who are you to question the quality of Nigerian musicians and their achievements in the International scene? Maybe you were too young to appreciate the works of Fela, Dr. Alban, Sade Adu, Tunde Bayedun and other pacesetters, were you so dumb not read/hear of Tuface, D'Banj and other Nigerian musicians feats? You are one of those unfortunate Nigerians who having left the shores of the country, you wait hungrily on BBC, CNN, CBC and other Western platforms to feed you nonsense about your roots. Shame on you. Let 9nice not perform, let him even just go there and fill up the space, he is a hundred times better than you in your miserable Canada at least he made it London while you were just in your shack and by the way, go back to school and learn your spellings, you meant to spell "hear" but blundered it as "here". Yeye Nigerian.

humble toni & 9ice, i wish them well :))
ReplyDeleteFor those of you FOOLS that don't believe 9ice performed at the event, go to youtube and search for his performance at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.
ReplyDeleteAnd Niyi, it is eigther you post a comment or you don't. Pls don't edit for us, it makes it unauthentic when you do that.
@last anon-Pls, i dont think ur comment was smooth enough.I have never edited any comment before posting. The above comment which i posted after Dami's comment was sent to be like that by another anon. It could have been a chain of e-mails or responces from two people and one of them decided to send the content to us.

ReplyDeleteI am so happy for 9ice!!! I watched him perform and I am sooooo proud of him.
Please don't blast the poor Ada from Canada. Some F-upped things happen to people when they visit Nigeria, I mean really f-upped things, so they leave with a very negative impression. I'm not making excuses for the guy but i understand. The more u go home, the more u see that Naija has more good than bad, but when u dont go often, u see more bad than good. Oh, and yes, ALAPOMEJI kicks ass.LADI.
