Stephen Covey in Nigeria for Zain’s Enterprise Solutions

World renowned motivational speaker and author of the widely read, ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’, Dr Stephen Covey will be in Nigeria from April 20 to 23, 2010 for the unveiling of Zain’s Enterprise Solutions.
Covey’s visit is in connection with the formal launch of the leading mobile operator’s new Corporate Advantage package, as part of the Zain Enterprise Solutions, a suite of products and services with a unique value proposition designed to significantly enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of businesses, business executives and entrepreneurs.
While in the country, the celebrated motivational speaker and management expert will also share his time-tested tips on principles and values of leadership and tips on how individual and businesses can move from failure to success and improved efficiency, productivity and profitability.
According to Shamel Hanafi, Chief Commercial Officer, Zain Nigeria, during his visit, Zain will provide over five hundred leaders in business, government and the media an opportunity to listen to and interact with the Dr. Covey
Hanafi noted that Dr. Covey and Zain Enterprise Solutions have a lot in common hence the decision of the company to associate the unveiling of the solutions with the foremost author.
He added that bringing Dr. Covey into the country underscores Zain’s understanding of the need to improve on the efficiency and effectiveness of business managers and leaders generally especially in the light of the challenging global economic environment.
Hanafi emphasized that Zain would always look for opportunities to give its customers a pleasurable communication experience as well as equip and empower them to succeed in the various aspects of their lives in keeping with its brand promise of ‘A wonderful world’.
The itinerary of the visit released by the company show that Dr Covey will host a collection of young business executives, professionals and select media managers on April 21, 2010 at a cocktail event tagged “An Evening with Dr Covey” at the Auto Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos, during which he will sign (autograph) books for the first 100 guests.
He will also have an interactive session with the media as well as visit some radio stations in Lagos and speak to listeners on air and expound on key management principles.
Dr. Covey is a highly sought after motivational speaker. His best-known book, the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide since it was first published in 1989. Not long ago, the audio version became the first non-fiction audio-book in U.S. publishing history to sell more than one million copies.
Covey’s follow-up titles to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective people aim both to add to the original and to form a cohesive philosophy on personal, principle-based leadership. They come in the format of audio books as well (such as the title Beyond The 7 Habits).
He published The 8th Habit in 2004, showing how individuals and businesses can move from Effectiveness to Greatness. The book functions as the sequel to The Seven Habits and in it Covey claims that effectiveness does not suffice in what he calls “The Knowledge Worker Age”.  He asserts that the challenges and complexity we face today are of a different order of magnitude.
Steven Covey was born in Salt Lake City of Utah, the United States of America on 24th October 1932. During his career, Covey has received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Utah, an MBA in Business Administration from Harvard University, a DRE in Church History and a Doctorate from Brigham Young University. He is also the founder of the Covey Leadership Center in Salt Lake City and is the half of the Franklin-Covey Corporation.
Covey lives with his wife Sandra and their family in Provo, Utah, home to Brigham Young University, where Dr. Covey taught prior to the publication of his best-selling book. He has nine children and fifty-one grandchildren and in 2003 was awarded the Fatherhood Award from the National Fatherhood Initiative in the United States of America.
