Bharti Airtel, the international telecom company that bought controlling shares in Zain Nigeria has announced its readiness to be part of MTV music Awards,popularly known as MAMA as the main sponsor. Last week in Lagos, it was a full house at Bar Royale as top officials of the company and top executives of MTV BASE in Nigeria led by Alex Okosi converged for the media launch of the event in Nigeria.
The two companies announced that the event would be taking place in Lagos Nigeria at the expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island Lagos this December. Sources told gistmaster.com that the Bharti Airtel the title sponsors of MAMA are excited that they would also be using the event as one of the platforms to announce its arrival in Nigeria.There were speculations that the award was earlier planned to hold in South Africa but since Airtel is not in South Africa they reasoned that it would be a wasted effort to sponsor it in that country. So Lagos is just perfect. The first MAMA took place in Abuja, Nigeria while the last one was held in Kenya. This time, its Lagos!.
