Lagos Fashion and Design Week is set to make its debut this year, with MTN as the major sponsor and supported by British Council. This was officially announced by Omoyemi Akerele, the Creative Director of Style House Files, promoters of the event. The fashion week is slated to hold in October this year.
At a press conference held this afternoon at Villa Medici, Victoria Island, Lagos, Mrs Akerele disclosed that the event would raise the bar in the fashion and style sector.
Omoyemi said it would promote and celebrate those who are making valuable contributions to the style industry. The Young designer of the year award winner would go home with an Hyundai Car worth #4.5 million while young fashion entrepreneur of the year would also go home with #1 million Naira cash. MTN model of year will also be selected during the event.
Cherry Eromosele, a senior manager with MTN in her short speech to the press, said MTN is not just in the business of providing their customers with reliable telecom experience, but they seek different avenues to impact on their lives positively.
" We talk to our customers from different segments, age brackets and what they are passionate about and we note that one of such is fashion" , Eromosele said. She disclosed the reason why MTN is supporting the Lagos Fashion and design week is to make invaluable contributions to the industry.
Those who were at the press conference include Tayo Shonekan, Babajide Akin Familuyi of FABS magazine, Folake Akindele Coker of Tiffany Amber, Isio Elohor of Beth Models, Ono Bello, Funsho Aina of MTN and others.
