Four women were on Tuesday in Lagos arraigned in an Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court for allegedly assaulting a policeman.
The accused: Sharon Moses, 26, Emily Monday, 22, Cynthia Amaka, 21 and Sabina Osondu, 27, are facing a one count charge of assaulting a police officer.
Moses, resides at DLA Road Asaba, Lagos; Monday at No19 Church St, Ikorodu, Lagos; Amaka, No.9, Atiba close, Value Estate Dopemu, Lagos while Osondu, lives at Nigeria Airforce Base, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Mr Samuel Ishola, told the court that the crime was committed on April 19, at Ritalori Hotel, Bode Thomas St, Surulere, Lagos.
According to him, the four accused lodged in a room at the hotel but t
he manager told them that four people cannot stay in a room.
Ishola said that the four accused refused to leave the room, even when the manager returned their money to them.
He said that the manager invited the policeman assigned to the hotel to chase them out but rather the accused pounced on the police officer.
He said that the accused assaulted the police officer by beating and tearing his uniform.
He said that the alleged offence contravened Section 172 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 each with a surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case to May 15 for mention. (NAN)
